Lasso 9 Server for Mac OS X Installation

Installation Using the Standard Installer

These instructions tell how to install Lasso 9 Server using the standard installer package, and configure the administrator account & registration. An Intel-based Mac running OS X 10.5 or later is required.

Note for Lasso 8 users: Be sure to read this article on configuring Lasso 8 and 9 to coexist on same server before installation.

Note for OS X Lion users: If you upgrade to OS X Server after installing Lasso 9, you will need to manually move the Lasso conf file from /etc/apache2/other to /etc/apache2/sites for Lasso to continue running.

1. Download Lasso 9 Server for Mac OS X from the LassoSoft website.
2. Run the installer to perform a standard installation, which will install Lasso 9 and restart Apache. By default the following files will be installed:
   • /etc/apache2/other/mod_lasso9.conf or /etc/apache2/other/mod_lasso9.10.5.conf (Mac OS X 10.5) (On Mac OS X Server, the file will be in /etc/apache2/sites) 
   • /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_lasso9.so and /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_lasso9.10.5.so
   • /Library/Frameworks/Lasso9.framework
   • /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.lassosoft.lassoinstancemanager.plist
   • /var/lasso
   • /usr/bin/lasso9
   • /usr/bin/lassoc
   • /usr/sbin/lassoim
   • /usr/sbin/lassoserver
3. When the installer has finished, wait a few seconds to allow Lasso 9 to start up, then click on the link that appears to go to the Lasso Server Administration found at /lasso9/instancemanager/ on your machine.
4. Use the web form to set an administrator username and password for your Lasso installation. This will start the Instance Manager and create a new instance with the same username and password.
